Friday slates in the NBA can be wild. So many games, so many choices. You gotta pick your spots, especially with load management always lurking. We've got a seven-game schedule tonight, and there are some intriguing matchups for daily fantasy players looking to cash in. Forget the big names for a minute; sometimes it's the role players in juicy spots who make your night.

Let's start with a guy who's been quietly stuffing the stat sheet: Daniel Gafford. The Wizards' big man has been a consistent fantasy producer since the trade to Dallas, averaging 11.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks in his last 10 games. Tonight, the Mavericks face the Pistons, who rank 28th in opponent points in the paint allowed. Detroit’s bigs, Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart, aren't exactly known for their rim protection. Gafford should feast, and at his current DFS salary, he feels like a steal for a double-double with a few blocks. He put up 15 points and 16 rebounds against Utah just last week. That's the kind of upside we're chasing.

Another guy I'm eyeing is Jabari Walker of the Portland Trail Blazers. Yeah, I know, the Blazers are a mess, but someone has to score. With Jerami Grant and Anfernee Simons both questionable, and Malcolm Brogdon already out, Walker could see a massive bump in usage against the Houston Rockets. He dropped 17 points and 13 rebounds against the Knicks on Tuesday, playing 33 minutes. The Rockets are a middle-of-the-pack defensive team, but they can give up points in bunches to active forwards. If Grant and Simons sit, Walker becomes a core play for me, even if his floor is a bit lower than Gafford’s. He’s going to get shots.

The Value Plays That Could Win Your Slate

Sometimes it's not about the superstars, it's about finding those low-cost guys who hit above their weight. Think about the Spurs' Tre Jones. He’s been a reliable source of assists and steals, averaging 6.2 assists and 1.2 steals over his last five outings. Tonight, the Spurs play the Grizzlies, who are notoriously fast-paced and can be exploited by guards who push the tempo. While Victor Wembanyama draws all the attention, Jones quietly orchestrates the offense and gets opportunities to rack up peripheral stats. He put up 11 points and 7 assists against the Suns on March 16. That’s solid production at a discount.

Here's my hot take for the night: Don't overthink Nikola Jokic. He's always a top play, but his salary is sky-high. Tonight, against a stingy Minnesota Timberwolves defense that ranks first in defensive rating, I think he's a fade in favor of some more balanced builds. The Wolves held him to 22 points and 8 assists in their last meeting on March 8. You're better off spreading that salary around to two or three mid-range guys who have higher probabilities of hitting their value.

Another solid value stream could be Kris Dunn from the Utah Jazz. With Keyonte George out and Collin Sexton questionable, Dunn could step into a much larger role against the Rockets. He’s a scrappy defender who gets steals, and if he sees 25+ minutes, he could easily hit double-digit points with a handful of assists and boards. His last game with extended minutes saw him put up 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists against Boston on March 15. That kind of line could be slate-winning at his price.

My bold prediction for Friday: Daniel Gafford finishes as the highest-scoring center in daily fantasy, outperforming even Joel Embiid in his return.
